Where are the LEADERS for our country? Elected are those that follow the polls. It matters not what is best for our country as a whole, but who best serves the interest groups. As an example, there is the Black vote, the Mexican vote, the Gay vote among many varied groups of people that are catered to. I have yet to hear any politician speak of the American vote. So our leaders for the American people are elected officials pandering to any group that will assure them of the next election. Does it not enter the minds of those elected that a divided country is a doomed country?

When citizens go to the polls to vote, are they truly voting in the best interests of our country, or are they merely voting for the politician from whom they will get the best "deal? " And so it becomes the privileged vote by special interest groups in exchange for privileges bestowed upon them in the form of protectionism from some perceived threat to them from the American people as a whole.

Rules and regulations are imposed upon all Americans, all in the name of protecting (self) interest groups. Does this protect Americans? We cannot protect the democracy of America, with laws to protect separate groups of people. Over time this in turn causes discontent among the general population.

In the desire to protect, we have, what I call the thought police, If something is said or done that is actually or perceived to offend, we have rules. We are no longer in charge of what we do, the state decides for us that which is proper. And so one protectionist scheme follows another, until we are no longer free.

How can those who lead us expect our country to bind together, when division is encouraged?
